Chizom Wornu is the founder of Ryder Energy, tackling post-harvest food losses in Nigeria through innovative solar cold storage. With a strong background in electrical engineering, Chizom specializes in power electronics, advanced control systems, and renewable energy simulation.
At Ryder Energy, he develops accessible solar cooling solutions for smallholder farmers in off-grid communities. His research focuses on designing ultra-efficient, modular cold storage that integrates intelligent power management and hybrid thermal energy storage, drastically reducing battery dependence and overall system costs.
As a Solar Innovators Research Fellow, Chizom is committed to advancing decentralized, productive-use solar technologies. By optimizing these systems for West African climates, he aims to deliver clean energy solutions that enhance regional food security and drive rural economic empowerment.
