Teddy Gichuhi Mbugua is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate (Power Systems) from Strathmore University, Nairobi, currently awaiting graduation. His interests focus on renewable energy integration, power system protection, and improving grid reliability in developing regions. He has gained practical experience through internships with Kenya Power and the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, where he supported electrical infrastructure projects, substation monitoring, and fault diagnosis. Teddy has worked on modelling a solar–diesel hybrid mini-grid based on the Mageta Island system, where he developed an adaptive overcurrent protection scheme to improve fault detection under different operating modes. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2024 Switch Energy Alliance Competition. He is passionate about advancing sustainable energy solutions that improve electricity access and system reliability across Africa.
