Technical Officer - Community Energy Malawi (NGO)

Isaac Ziba is a Renewable Energy Specialist with a Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Technologies from Mzuzu University (MZUNI) and over three years of experience advancing sustainable energy solutions in Malawi. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering at MZUNI while serving as a Technical Engineer at Community Energy Malawi. Isaac leads mini-grid design, solar deployment, and community-focused energy projects that expand access for underserved populations. He has expertise in grid and off-grid systems, including solar home systems and clean cooking technologies, with prior experience at ESCOM in high-voltage systems and grid restoration. Passionate about climate resilience, his interests include smart grids, AI-driven technologies, and decentralized energy systems. He is committed to driving inclusive and sustainable energy access.

SIRF is delivered by the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI) with support from the WOCEWA (Women and Clean Energy in West Africa) small grant framework, a program of ECOWAS implemented by ECREEE.

This support strengthens SIRF’s mission to advance women-led clean energy enterprises and research-driven solar manufacturing capacity in West Africa.

SIRF forms part of a broader renewable energy capacity-building framework supported under the WOCEWA initiative. While SIRF delivers virtual research training across Africa, a separate Solar Panel Assembly Training program will provide hands-on solar assembly training to 20 Nigerian women in Lagos.

Selected practical insights from SIRF research may inform aspects of the demonstration assembly process. Both initiatives contribute to strengthening local solar manufacturing capacity.
