Battery Operations Engineer

Rumbidzai Mollen Chingosho is a Mechanical Engineer with over four years of experience in electric mobility and renewable energy systems in Zimbabwe. She specializes in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), and solar-powered charging infrastructure for rural applications. At Mobility for Africa, she has led field testing, diagnostics, and iterative improvements across multiple generations of battery technologies, working closely with cross-functional and international technical teams.

Her work focuses on translating field data into engineering insights to improve system reliability, performance, and safety in challenging operating environments. Rumbidzai has played a key role in troubleshooting complex system failures, supporting technology upgrades, and strengthening operational processes. She is passionate about advancing locally driven innovation in clean energy and is committed to developing scalable, resilient energy systems that support sustainable mobility and energy access across Africa.

SIRF is delivered by the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI) with support from the WOCEWA (Women and Clean Energy in West Africa) small grant framework, a program of ECOWAS implemented by ECREEE.

This support strengthens SIRF’s mission to advance women-led clean energy enterprises and research-driven solar manufacturing capacity in West Africa.

SIRF forms part of a broader renewable energy capacity-building framework supported under the WOCEWA initiative. While SIRF delivers virtual research training across Africa, a separate Solar Panel Assembly Training program will provide hands-on solar assembly training to 20 Nigerian women in Lagos.

Selected practical insights from SIRF research may inform aspects of the demonstration assembly process. Both initiatives contribute to strengthening local solar manufacturing capacity.
